The Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse

Réseau canadien pour la prévention des mauvais traitements

 envers les aînés

The CNPEA~RCPMTA is dedicated to the prevention of the abuse of older people in Canada.

This website provides information to raise awareness of key issues around abuse and neglect in later life and to assure older adults are treated as full citizens in Canadian society.

The website is intended to help people access and share information on abuse and neglect issues in later life, as well as learn more about what is being done across Canada to address this important health, social and legal issue.

Help us work toward a Canadian society that respects and embraces all ages!

PEACE  Project

The RNAO has partnered with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) for the Promoting Awareness of Elder Abuse in Long-Term Care Homes  (PEACE)  pan-Canadian initiative. The goal of this project is to increase front-line service providers’ awareness and understanding of  resident abuse and enhance their capacity to respond to situations of abuse in long-term care.

The activities of the PEACE are to (1) develop and deliver education sessions on elder abuse prevention customized to long-term care across Canada; (2) develop promotional material and resources on elder abuse prevention; and (3) develop an online elder abuse awareness toolkit on CNA’s NurseONE.  Click here  for more information
