Abuse and neglect of older adults  is a complex topic,  sometimes people may  be looking for help in preventing abuse or help to resolve it.

There are many different types of services and  resources that can be useful, depending on where the person  lives,  the type of problem they are experiencing, and its effects on them. The appropriate help will depend on whether the older person lives in the community or in a long term care setting.  In some cases, the person causing  the harm  may need help too.

In Winter 2011/ 2012, we are adding  separate documents listing key resources  for each province and territory.

You will be able to click on the province or territory below.  The  services and programs listed will include brief descriptions to help you know the type of help they can provide. We have begun this listing  with New Brunswick.

If you are specifically interested in how to find help if the older adult lives in a supportive housing, assisted living, care home, or  long term care setting who is experiencing problems, click here  for more information.
